Earlier in the year, Mansi Patel was nominated as delegate to the Girl’s State program in June.  Sophia Castro placed as the 2017 1st Alternate and Kaeley Benedict placed as the 2nd Alternate of 2017.

Girl’s State is a leadership, citizenship work and study program sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary during June of 2017. The girls are selected based on good leadership, interest in community and government, honesty, character, and cooperativeness. One student is chosen from each high school in the county to go to this six-day session along with 500 other girl students from all over California.

Patel says, “I’m excited about how the experience will be because it’s a different environment- a college with several ambitious high school girls.”

First presented in 1937, the American Legion Auxiliary’s Girls State program is the most respected and coveted experiential learning program presented in the United States.
