It is December and soccer season has officially started at Los Banos High School for the girls. JV soccer Coach Kline and varsity Coach Hernandez started tryouts during the first week of November and an official team the next following week. Both varsity and JV girls started strong with their win against Johansen with the following scores:  Varsity 2-0 and JV 1-0.

Coach Kline said, “The main goal for the girls soccer program is to continue to build the successes we have achieved over the past few years. For JV in particular, we are focused on building the foundational skills they will need when they are promoted up to the varsity level. I hope every girl on the JV team at the end of the season can say they had fun and are a better soccer player than they were at the start of the season.”

Coach Kline started coaching for the girls soccer last year. He says he started coaching because “I have always wanted to coach soccer, and since I have worked here the girls on the teams have said I should coach if the chance ever comes up. Last year I was lucky enough to shadow Coach Fifield, the former girls JV coach, and I was also able to learn a great deal from Coach Hernandez, the girls varsity coach. When I heard that Coach Fifield was going to be stepping down this year, I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to try coaching.” He also added “that the entire coaching staff is proud of all of the hard work that they put in every day at practice and in every game; and that we thoroughly enjoy getting to know them and see their progress on and off of the field.”

Both teams started off strong with their wins against Johansen.  Here’s to a cold, fun season!

Next home game will be located at Loftin Stadium, January 4, 2023.  Come support the Tigers girls!
