Dove season is here and that means the hunters are ready to shoot and ready for a good hunting season.
Dove season started on September 1 through September 15 which has pulled many hunters into shooting again after long breaks. Dove season is also a good season to shoot in right before duck season. Jett Lindeman (12) and Cole Ramos (12) are members of “Quack Smashers” with Ramos as founder. Using a brand Ramos created about hunting, “Quack Smashers” also sells products to buy such as hats and stickers. If interested, any one can check “Quack Smashers” out on Instagram @quacksmashers, where patrons can find their hunts and different hunting seasons and what they shot.
Lindeman and Ramos seemed very ecstatic about their dove season opener. Lindeman said, “ It was good because I got 15 eurasian species, but I wanted more morning doves.”
Ramos also added, “It was good, but it was slow. We were out there for about an hour and got a good 30 for two guys.”
Also for any hunters curious about the flocking, they both said, “Flocking was different in their spot because there were less birds from last year. The migration path changes due to many circumstances making this season slower than previous.”
Ramos and Lindeman provided some tips for first time hunters. First, hunters should also go out with someone that knows what they are doing but do not be scared to try hunting. Second piece of advice is the spots where doves are most attracted to are agriculture, farming or fields. Third, mojos are dove decoys that can help hunters when they go out hunting. To go more into detail, they are spinning dove decoys that attract doves.
Lindeman also added, “When hunting you should also know the location of where you are hunting; location is key to a good hunt.” The last important tip for hunting is hunters need a valid hunting license.
