Los Banos High School has a Debate Club once again! After the club taking a short break in 2021-2022 Alejandra Morales (12),has reopened the club and created new foundations to it.
“Attendance is a crucial part of the club. Members are expected to come to most meetings and if you miss more than two meetings in a row your membership will be terminated,” said Morales.
The Debate Club is stricter with the goals of the club with the ambition to attend at least one competition next semester, varying on how many competitions will be held. The number of people needed to be on the team varies based on the competition but the typical number is three per team, though every member will have the chance to compete. When not competing, the club will be collaborating with Pacheco for events.
The club is about respecting others’ opinions and improving individuals’ argumentative and public speaking skills. Club members will be expected to help with fundraising, and help attend club competitions and field trips. This includes raising money for senior cords (maybe pins).
For those interested in joining the club, meetings are held every other Thursday during Pride Time in Mrs. Montiel’s classroom #512.
