Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) is one of the newly reinstituted clubs on the Los Banos High School campus, founded by Diana Meza (12) and co-founded by America Estrada (12) for the 2023 – 2024 school year. The FBLA club is oriented toward students interested in business, economics, and leadership.
The club hopes to attend competitions, a field trip to Stanford Business School, and host ‘Tiger Markets’. These ‘Tiger Markets’ will have student vendors selling and promoting their product. It will be a fun event for students to go hang out with their friends, and see what their classmates are making. The FBLA competitions would take place in the spring. The Stanford Business school field trip would be in December. And the ‘Tiger Markets’ are projected to be at the end of each month.
“I’m excited for the future events we’ll hold and all the memories we’ll make, ” said Meza enthusiastically.
The founder of the club, Diana Meza was inspired by her sister’s involvement in the club, as it used to be the biggest club on campus. Ever since she was little, she always envisioned herself in the business world. She commented that her interests always fluctuated as the years went by, but one thing stayed constant: she wanted to own businesses of her own one day, and she aspires to help others do the same.
Meza’s favorite part of the club is the opportunity it gives her to step out of her comfort zone, as she is having to communicate and have speeches in front of audiences. She’s excited to lead students to success and plan fun events throughout the school year.
“Starting this club was a big leap for me, especially since I’m usually a more reserved type of person and I tend to stick in my comfort zone. However, knowing my ambitions, I knew I can’t stay that way for long. So there’s no better place to start than right now,” said Meza.
“If there’s one thing I’d like to say to students who want to take a risk and start something new, whether it’s stepping out of your comfort zone slowly or impulsively launching a new club on campus (sort of like how I did!), it’s this: Just go for it and never look back. High school and life in general is all about embracing new experiences. Even if it’s just baby steps, keep pushing forward and pursue what you truly want without seeking outside validation. Remember, the only regret you’ll have is not pursuing what you truly wanted to achieve!” Meza ended with an inspiring tone.
Students can expect an open welcome to the club if they wish to expand their business, leadership, and economic skills. The next FBLA meeting will be September 22 in room 8 & 9. For more information contact [email protected] or [email protected].
