Alumni, Mr. Felix Sanchez was hired by the math department this school year. He is teaching freshman math. His main goal is to help the students learn about Integrated One math while also helping them improve their communication skills.
Mr. Sanchez said, “I get them to improve their communication skills by getting them to work in groups, so that they can help them learn this for later during college.”
This is Mr. Sanchez’s first teaching job before he worked at Starbucks when he was a junior in high school. He worked at this job for six to seven years. He is really excited and happy to be a teacher on LBHS campus. He hopes he can stay and grow as a teacher. One day he hopes that he can teach Calculus, but he is happy teaching the freshman class right now.
Sanchez was born and raised in Los Banos. He went to elementary school at Henry Miller, junior high at LBJHS, high school at LBHS where he graduated in 2019, and college at University of California, San Diego.
Being a teacher was a plan B for Mr. Sanchez, but in his senior year in high school, he helped tutor students. Also, two of his favorite math teachers retired, Mrs. Bhaskar and Mr. Garcia, causing him to want to fill their place; this caused his plan B to move to plan.
Mr. Sanchez’s favorite type of math is Calculus. In high school he was a member of the calculus club called Mu Alpha Theta and he took AP calculus, which he passed with a five. Mr. Sanchez’s original plan was to be a video game developer, but in the end being a teacher won. He is excited to be here on campus and help the students learn.
Sanchez shows off his humor with a math joke. He said, “Why is two afraid of three? Because three is odd.”
Give him a Tiger welcome in room 44.
