Many students wish they were a part of the Homecoming Downtown parade. This year’s parade was a celebration of the spirit and pride of the students, alumni, staff, and families. The parade took place on September 22, 2023 at 4:15 P.M. start time going down Main Street and then again around the football field during the half time show.
The parade began with a very nice display of colorful floats, made by the students of the school. Each float represented a decade. The decades went from the 1960s to 1990s. The Freshman class represented the 1960s. Their float had a Volkswagen van. The sophomores were the 1990’s. Their float had a MTV and a boombox. The juniors were the 1970’s. Their float had a disco ball and a jukebox. The seniors were the 1980’s. Their float had a rubix cube and their float had pacman all around. The parade also included the marching band, the cheerleaders, and the Tigers varsity football team.
The class officers were all in charge of building their floats. Hailey Tangco, (11) class officer president stated, “Building the float was very stressful. We were extremely overwhelmed with homework and our extracurricular. We were left with cramming building the float the last few days before the parade.” Being a part of building the float takes a lot of your time. This year, the students missed classes to help build the float.
The parade was enjoyed by many people. Many people really enjoyed it. Emmi Luna (11) class officer treasurer said, “The parade was very fun. It was a really nice experience for my partner and I. My favorite part of the parade was seeing all the little kids get really happy when I waved at them.” It is safe to say that this year’s homecoming parade was overall successful!
