Mrs. Heather McBride was hired this year as Los Banos High School’s new Registrar.
McBride faces various tasks such as enrolling students that are transferring from another school within the Los Banos school district, printing transcripts for former and current students, and scheduling appointments between students and counselors.
McBride had a couple of reasons for joining this school’s office staff. One reason is that she has always wanted to come back to her alma mater. The other reason is due to her previous occupation cutting hours from an eight hour position into a five hour position. Although it wasn’t always her goal to become a registrar, she believes that she is very lucky that the position opened up for her. Mrs. McBride’s ultimate goal is to become a high school English teacher and is still pursuing this goal by attending college classes.
Over the course of her career, McBride has worked within the school district for 12 years. When asked how she could improve the high school, Mrs. McBride stated, “I can’t necessarily improve it, all I can do is make sure that I do a good job at my position and make sure that everything gets input correctly.”
She loves the fast paced work environment, where she never has time to be bored within the office. When asked what she specifically enjoyed about her occupation McBride replied, “There’s always something new. I’m constantly meeting new people because parents come in from outside to enroll their children…it’s not the same boring job every single day.”
As a registrar McBride faces various tasks and challenges. When questioned about what the hardest part of her occupation is, she explained, “Honestly, right now I would say the hardest has to be learning how to do report cards and the deficiencies, making sure that I am getting everything open on the right grading marks. Since I’m new everything is a whole new transition for me.”
McBride enjoys spending time with her children, one of them being a senior, while her other child is a junior. She hopes to enjoy every moment she has left with them being in high school. Her other hobbies are running the Los Banos youth cheer and coaching their senior squad, and she is part of the Los Banos AG Boosters.
