The Tigers boys varsity water polo team took on the Grace Davis Spartans on October 5 at Grace Davis.
The game started off with Davis getting in the first points making the score 3-0 and the Tigers fired back to make the score 3-1. Going into the half, the score was 9-2. The Tigers ended up getting a red card in the third quarter which was detrimental for team morale, and unfortunately, the Tigers ended up falling to Davis 15-3 as the final score.
When asked how he felt before the game, Patrick Warren (11) said, “I felt confident before going into the the game and so did the whole team, but we were feeling a little bit cocky because of how confident we felt.” He added, “I had a slight ego when going into the game which is never a good thing because it means that I was going to play to their level and not the level that I normally play at.”
Frustrations were high in the game as each team battled it out. When asked how he felt about the the play leading up to the red card, Warren said, “One of our players kept on getting targeted the whole match and the ref wasn’t calling anything which I feel like is what led the team to getting a red card for cursing at the ref.”
Despite this setback, Warren said, “We’re going to play harder than ever and play good defense and stay focused without losing our cool and work together.”
The Tigers proved this when they took on Johansen on October 12 and won 11-10. The team has two more scheduled games against Ceres on October 17 and Lathrop on October 19.
