Lorinda Sanchez has been coaching basketball for 14 years, and she has been coaching at the high school for eight years. She decided to become a coach because of her own children, and she has been motivated to continue coaching from seeing the positive impact she has with the team players.
Sanchez has a lot of faith for the girls basketball team this year, and she is ready to give her best to the girls to help them succeed in winning the league and getting into playoffs this year.
Sanchez has several expectations for the team this season. The most important one is that she wants girls who are fully committed to the team. This means the players need to be ready to practice, to push to get better every day, and to compete at the best of their abilities.
The future is bright for the girls basketball team this year. For this future basketball season Coach Sanchez said, “ For this season I envision us winning the league championship and going far in playoffs.”
Girls basketball tryouts this year will be on October 30, 2023. If interested make sure to contact Sanchez to get more information. Students can find her anywhere on campus. Conditioning days will take place prior to tryouts.
Sanchez also said she sees a lot of potential in the incoming freshman class. She commented that they were pretty special from watching them play this summer. She believes by the time they are juniors and seniors, they will be ready.
The biggest fundraiser the girls basketball team has this year is their annual ‘Surf and Turf’ dinner. This event will be hosted on November 11, 2023 at the DES Hall. The girls basketball team works along with the boys baseball team to help serve dinner and later in the night, assist with the silent auction. It is a fun night which successfully provided needed funds for the team. If interested in attending to help support the girls, students and the community can buy the dinner tickets from the players themselves or from Coach Sanchez.
