It is the time of year again to have our mini cheerleaders represent that Tiger Pride! This year about one hundred girls signed up to cheer along with our JV and varsity cheer team during the JV halftime performance on October 20. The girls will be dancing side-by-side with our cheer teams. The range from mini cheerleaders start from the age of preschool to eighth grade.
Elizabeth Buenrostro, varsity cheer captain stated, “I am really excited to be around little ones, especially when I was one myself doing mini cheer, so it is a fun experience.”
The Mini cheerleaders not only perform at halftime with the Tigers cheer team, but they also get attend cheer practice with our cheerleaders. They will spend the entire week with the team while also coming to practice with themes to do each day. On October 17, the mini cheerleaders will wear their school shirts to show their elementary/middle school spirit. On October 18, they will wear their tie dye gear or neon and on October 19, they can wear anything pink or Barbie! Then on October 20, they will all get shirts to wear to perform our Barbie themed dance.
Varsity coach Mrs. Jennifer Lampreda explained, “I am thrilled that our teams can continue this tradition. I know that the little girls love to attend this special event each year. It also is great for our cheerleaders to be role models to all the mini Tiger cheerleaders.”
The JV cheer coach, Ms. Gaby Andrada created the Barbie cheer mix for the upcoming event that all of the mini cheerleaders are sure to enjoy. The mini cheerleaders will be present through the entire game cheering on the side lines with both cheer teams during the third quarter.
The sports boosters are donating to the mini cheer event by giving out one free ring pop for each mini cheerleader at the game. This is a fun experience for all the little ones and the cheerleaders. It is heartwarming to see how the little girls have a lot of fun with the event along with being amazed by our cheer teams.
