What are Boo Baskets? There is this new phenomenon appearing where people get their significant other or friends Halloween inspired baskets. What does the word Boo mean? Boo has a variety of definitions, it can mean boyfriend/girlfriend, or a word used to scare or surprise someone. These baskets often referred to as “Boo Baskets” or “Spooky Baskets” consist of fall themed items: blankets, pajamas, candles, candies, decor, makeup, toys, and other fall goodies. 

This trend appeared on Tik Tok, and ever since, many couples have been giving their significant other “Boo Baskets.”  It’s a fun way to celebrate Halloween and spread some joy with your loved ones. Many couples make these baskets for each other, however, the real way of giving a Boo Basket is a bit different. 

A Boo Basket originally was meant to be given as a surprise. For example people would knock on someone’s door, run away, and leave the basket at the door. The person who received the basket has then been “Booed.” The idea of giving the basket filled with goodies remains the same, the way of gifting it is what changed with this new version of Boo Baskets. 

When asking students on campus they all agreed that gifting a Boo Basket is a really cute and thoughtful thing to do for their boo. Diana Meza (12) said, “I think Boo Baskets are a really good idea, everyone should be buying them.  I think if you have a boo and aren’t buying them a Boo Basket, then what are you doing?” 

Other students have mentioned that receiving a Boo Basket made them feel joyous, and they loved them. With all the fall goodies, what is there not to like about them? This is an excellent way to celebrate Halloween and have a fun time. 

Moral of the story is to go make a Boo Basket for your friends and loved ones; it’s a gift they can appreciate and be thankful for and remember for years to come.
