The Tiger’s flag football team took on the Livingston Wolves for the first round of the 2023 playoffs. The Tigers finished the season in third place in league with a 5-2 record.
The game started off with the Livingston Wolves scoring a touchdown and not converting the extra point. The Tigers got the ball and had no luck in their first drive that resulted in a punt. The Wolves got the ball back and quickly scored again and this time converting the extra point. The Wolves were having a very good defensive performance by shutting out the Tigers in the first half.
The score at the half was 13-0. The Tigers knew they had to come out stronger in the second half. Their captain Isabel Orozco (12) said, “We need to start being more aggressive and we need to play like we want to win.” With these words from Orozco, the Tigers came out into the second half ready to go.
The Tiger defense held it down in the second half, allowing no touchdowns to be scored. Starting wide receiver Moxie Barton (12) caught a 30 yard touchdown. Starting center Orozco got the extra point which made the score 13-7. Orozco had multiple defensive saves. Starting safety Ava Felix (11) and linebacker Alexandria Torres (9) both had interceptions. Torres’ interception brought the Tigers to the 10 yard line with two minutes to go in the second half.
The Wolves intercepted the ball before the Tigers could score. Orozco got a safety on a Wolves attempted run play. This made the game 13-9. The Tigers had a chance to win the game but did not succeed. The Livingston Wolves won the game with a final score of 13-9 with a hard fought game from the Tigers. The Tigers overall had a great season and will look to be better next year.
