My Senior Night experience for football was something surreal for me. I have played football for eleven years of my life. I have always loved playing defense as I switched from playing linebacker, to corner, and to safety. I have always wanted to play offense but it never worked out in my favor. Not only was it such a memorable night for me because of it being one of my last games as a senior, but I also won Defensive Player of the Game that night with an interception, three tackles, and a kickoff return for a touchdown.
The night was definitely a night to remember for me because of all of the good things that had happened. I feel like going into the game I was a little nervous, only because the game was super emphasized by coaches and teammates as well. Now of course it makes sense because it is a Cross-Town-Clash. Not only that but I have played with most of the other teams my whole life. Some were former teammates as well. I knew I wanted to do well, so I made sure to try my hardest.
Looking back at it, I feel there are times I could have played better or stepped up and made a play. Although, I am grateful that I was able to contribute to my team as much as I did. I remember going into halftime I spoke with my teammate Ramon Mondragon (12). I told him specifically “I love our offense, but if they aren’t going to put up any points, I will.” Halftime is over and on the opening kickoff of the second half I returned it for a 60 yard touchdown.
I have learned so much from the game of football, the things I have been taught by the brothers I have made. All of this is a benefit to me through the game I love. My senior night will make me work harder in the future. If I have a goal I can and will accomplish it. I am glad for the game I played, and I am happy for all the memories I have made playing.
