The Los Banos Veterans Day Parade was a success on November 4, 2023. Many people showed up with love and support for all fellow veterans in Downtown Los Banos.
The parade took place starting on 6th and K street and ending at the Los Banos Fairgrounds. Many floats and people walked in the parade, including all different Los Banos schools, and a variety of different businesses.
Mayor Paul Llanez said that the Veterans Parade was a great turnout for the locals in the city. He stated, “The Veterans Parade is important because it accomplishes two things: it brings our community together and honors our veterans, both past and present.” Llanez also claimed that his favorite float from the parade was a paper mache airplane jet that was very creative.
LBHS also supported the Veterans Parade by having a decorated ASB float. The Los Banos High School Band walked and played many different songs. Los Banos Colorguard attended the parade walking alongside the band, doing their cool routines with their flags. The crowd seemed to enjoy the show, applauding the schools as they traveled past.
Llanez, when talking about the importance of veterans, stated, “We owe everything to the brave men and women who have fought for this country and served this great nation. Veterans have given us a blanket of freedom that we cannot truly begin to say thank you for.”
Mayor Llanez had a great view of the crowd and fellow supporters since he rode on a firetruck in the parade. Afterwards, Llanez supported a water table with his campaign sign on it.
The significance of the Los Banos Veterans Parade is very important to our small town. It brings a chance to allow the city locals to come together and to applaud and celebrate those who made a great impact to our country. Veterans in our community and everywhere across the country deserve our praise and salute to their dedication and protection to the United States. Thank you Veterans!
