Christmas is objectively one of the best holidays of the year. This holiday brings families together and gives many people some days off of work to enjoy gifting presents or cooking meals with their loved ones, along with decorating for the occasion. Everyone could agree it’s one of the biggest festivities celebrated all over the world. Many people would wish it lasted all year round, which raises the question, is it too early to celebrate Christmas?
Christmas was traditionally a Christian celebration, in which they celebrated the birth of Jesus. However, it evolved into a tradition everyone can celebrate and be a part of with its main figure being Santa Claus, receiving/giving gifts, and spending time with one’s family.
Christmas is a holiday everyone wants to come sooner as it’s full of magical wonders. Shopping for this holiday is certainly a very exciting activity to indulge in, as all the stores are filled with winter decorations, clothing pieces, many small items and also Christmas specials. Everywhere one turns it is full of Christmas spirit with twinkling lights, decorated trees with dazzling ornaments, a cozy atmosphere, and really just filled with a winter wonderland essence. All of these wonders make Christmas a magical occasion and a truly special moment in many people’s lives. So how soon is too soon to start celebrating this festivity?
When asking students this question they answered,
“No, it is never too early to celebrate Christmas,” said Lily Horton (12) while Madison Richards (12) said, “No, I’ve been celebrating since July.”
As soon as Halloween passes, many stores begin to put up Christmas signs and many holiday products begin to appear on shelves. Both Thanksgiving and Christmas products seem to be put out on display in the month of November, which shows just how many corporate stores want people to start spending money on this holiday. This is a psychological trick to get people to start spending money before the holiday even begins. Every single place one may go to already has Christmas decorations on the first of November, yet Christmas isn’t until late December. Might as well have New Years decorations up as well, as both Christmas and New Years aren’t so far away from each other, just a week.
And all people think of Christmas when it’s cold and snowing, people correlate this holiday to that weather. Therefore, these factors make it the perfect time to start celebrating, with hot chocolate, blanket weather, homes with candles and baking cookies with our loved ones. There’s no harm in celebrating Christmas as soon as our heart desires. The choice is up for decision, is it too early to celebrate Christmas or not?
