Caleb Robertson (12), one amongst many of our fellow students on campus, is an outstanding student athlete. He excels in both academics and athletics and has been for the past four years at LBHS.
As a freshman, Caleb played on varsity for both the basketball and track teams to which he immediately excelled. That was just the beginning of his outstanding athletic career. Last year, as a junior, he averaged 8 points, 6 assists, and 10 rebounds which are crazy stats especially for a point guard. For track, he qualified for sections in the 4 x 400, one of the toughest events in track and field. He plays key components in every sport he plays.
When asked what he likes about basketball, Caleb said, “I like the competitiveness of the sport and I love putting in work and seeing results.”
For Caleb, the basketball sport has been more of a challenge than other sports. He said, “I would say basketball is a lot harder compared to track because track is mainly me being naturally fast, but in basketball, I actually had to work to improve and put in the hours in order to get better.”
Just this year Caleb tried out for the football team for the first time in his entire life. To everyone’s surprise, he immediately rocketed into one of the key wide receivers for the squad. He averaged 20 yards per catch and had 365 total receiving yards to go with 6 touchdowns on the year with most of his touchdowns being key turning points in games for the Tigers throughout the season. He was on every team’s scouting report as his impressive speed helped him beat the defenses secondary deep down the field.
Caleb said what keeps him motivated and helps him excel in the sports he plays are his teammates and his coaches who are always pushing him to do better. He added that he also just does not want to lose, so he is always wanting to improve on his game.
With basketball season finally kick-starting this year, Caleb is back in his element. As of right now he averages 15 points, 4 assists, and 10 rebounds a game. An incredible increase from his last year averages.
The regular season doesn’t kick off until January 3, however, the Tigers still have non-league games and tournaments where students could attend and support Caleb Robertson in action.
