Cade Torres (12) has been playing multiple sports ever since he was very young kid, however football has always been his first love. This year Cade Torres looked to contribute heavily this year especially because it was his last year of high school football. He did indeed deliver his part in the success of the Los Banos Tigers season as he played the positions of receiver, running back and strong safety while stacking up 40 tackles, two interceptions and two touchdowns.
Being an athlete in high school also involves being a student first. Asking Cade on how he managed his work load of his school work and the time he puts in practice he said, “It wasn’t easy managing the two, but if I wanted to play sports, I had to keep my grades up; so I had to keep myself in check and discipline myself to make sure I was playing on Friday nights.” Cade had 4.0 GPA throughout this semester.
One of Cade’s favorite moments of the season was playing against the crosstown rival on his senior night. In the same game he returned a kick back to the house for six points and also handled business on the defensive side by securing an interception. Cade described the moment as “unreal,” and it felt like a “movie” for him as it was the last time playing against the rival team.
Cade helped the Tigers go undefeated in the WAC and bringing the league title back again for a second year straight. The Tigers finished 10-2 on the entire season and were D5 semi-finalist.
Cade stated, “I wish it ended differently. I wish we could’ve won our section, but all things must come to an end, and I am going to miss the playing of the game I love.”
