My senior year is already half way done and we only have ninety-four days left of school. This year has been pretty fun so far with lots of activities.
At the start of the year being a part of senior sunrise and senior walk in was pretty surreal. I never thought those days would come where it’s my last year. The first day of senior year was a fun and relaxing day. Everyone in the senior class was actually excited for the first day of school.
Becoming a senior you start to notice a few things. Classes are pretty laid back and no problems really occur. I believe it’s from already dealing with it for the past three years but that’s not the point. Teachers are really fun and enjoy talking and having fun days too.
Sports have to be the most fun as a senior. You put your all into it since it’s your last year and slowly count your days. One day I thought I would never be a part of is my Senior Night for football. It was a very happy, but sad moment for me. It definitely opened my eyes to how much time has flown by. I started playing the sport since I was a kid in 2012 to now in 2023, signing out.
Los Banos High has also had some fun events. For example, one activity that was memorable was Homecoming, or Hoco. It was my first dance as a senior and probably one of the best so far. Getting to go with my girlfriend made it extra special and fun. There were a good amount of activities like pictures and great music. The school definitely lets the students have their fun and have great music selection.
School rallies are also a big staple of senior year. Schools usually do them for sports or dances coming up or just random events. This year school rallies have been alright. They aren’t mandatory anymore so there’s no atmosphere and it’s pretty dry. I wish people cared more about it as they did back in the day, but I guess things change.
Once you become a senior there are things some people don’t know about going into it. One thing for me was getting called into the College and Career counselors office for my CSU application. I never thought that would happen. Everything that happens reminds me that it’s really my last year and I need to take advantage of all opportunities.
As the middle of the year hits us, it’s definitely implanted in my mind that this is it. I only technically have four months of school left due to all the activities that go on at the end of the year and then, there’s graduation. I’m extremely excited but also pretty nervous about what’s to come. I’m slowly closing my last chapter of regular school and trying to make my dreams come true for my future.
To all seniors in my Class of 2024, enjoy every minute of the time you have left. Let’s make the most of the few months we have together.
