The Los Banos swim team recently held its first meeting for all students interested in participating in the sport on January 10 of last week. After varsity girls going 6-1, and varsity boys going 4-3 last season, the swim team looks forward to another hopefully successful season.
The swim team has in fact acquired a new player, Ramon Mondragon (12), who has decided to come out for swim for the first time in his senior year. “Since this is senior year, it’s my last year of high school, and I wanted to come back because it’s something I did when I was younger. I stopped swimming when Covid hit, but since it’s my last chance and I just wanted to give it a try,” said Mondragon.
Swim player, Ava Felix (11), said she’s super excited for the upcoming season and really hopes that they improve compared to last year and that they acquire new people. She said, “I think we’ll do good this year just because we have more boys joining, and we did pretty good last season, but I think we’ll do better this season.”
Philip Vander Poel (12), one of the star players on the team who is a third year Varsity returner swims both the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle events. He said, “My expectations for this season are to make it far into sections.”
Let’s wish for a successful season for our swim team and make sure to contact Mrs. Todd before it’s too late!
