The Super Bowl 58 match-up for the 23-24 NFL season is the NFC Champions, San Francisco 49ers, against the AFC Champions, Kansas City Chiefs. This is a familiar match-up for the Super Bowl due to the fact that five years ago for the 19-20 NFL season these two power houses went at it for the title of the 53rd Super Champion. The Kansas City Chiefs came out victorious against the San Francisco 49ers, 20-31. Most of the core players from Super Bowl 53 on both teams are still on the team, however, that was five years ago and both teams have a chance at glory to become the 58th Super Bowl Champion.
The Kansas City Chiefs have been considered to be underwhelming due to their success of having won two Super Bowls in four years and having won it last season against the Philadelphia Eagles. The Chiefs were struggling against teams that they should have beat and were not making plays when it mattered most throughout the regular season. The Chiefs still managed to make their way to the playoffs, but everyone had counted them out to make the Super Bowl this season. The Chiefs are led by their superstar quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, and by one of best tight ends in the history of the game, Travis Kelce. Even though the Chiefs were counted out by the media and public they played their best ball and managed to make their fourth Super Bowl in just five years. Considering the fact that the Chiefs already have two Super Bowls in just four years, winning their third Super Bowl would solidify their team as a dynasty.
The San Francisco 49ers are not known for losing whatsoever. During the 80’s and 90’s they were one of the most dominant teams in the NFL. Now they hope to restore that greatness after falling short so many teams in the past two decades. The last time the 49ers had won a Super Bowl title was in 1994. The 49ers look to have their revenge against the Chiefs since they had lost to them in Super Bowl 53. The 49ers have been great in recent years, however, they just fall short of making it to the Super Bowl or even winning it. This year they look to change that narrative as they are led by a juggernaut offense that includes All-Pro Running Back, Christian McCaffery, All-Pro Receivers, Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel, and All-Pro Tight End, George Kittle. At the helm of the offense is Mr. Irrelevant, Brock Purdy; he was the last pick of the draft two years ago and now is leading his team to the Super Bowl.
Experts do favor the San Francisco 49ers in this match-up, yet viewers cannot count out Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs to possibly come out on top to become champion, especially after being counted out by analysts and media, but still made it to the big stage.
