The Girls Varsity Basketball team made the playoffs after winning against Lathrop’s Basketball team. Many students around campus are excited about this accomplishment. The team’s record right now is 17-11 overall.
Chantelle Augustine (12), a basketball player, is excited about the achievement. When discussing how her season has been, she stated, “My senior basketball season went good. I feel like I barely started becoming consistent towards the end of the season. I finally started improving, but the hard work paid off and I could say I ended on a good note and enjoyed the season with my teammates, and coaches.”
When asked what was her motivation for playoffs, Augustine said, “My motivation to make it this far was my role as a senior, and knowing that I was going to have my last opportunity to show how much I have improved and I did not want to end the year on a bad note, so I made sure to have fun and play hard to get the results that I hoped for.”
Cassidy Barcellos (11), explains how much her team deserves to make it to playoffs, “I feel like my team has worked really hard this year. It starts with practices and then you just got to be able to apply what you learn into the game, and I feel like we’ve gotten better with that throughout the season.”
Barcellos addresses that she is excited for her next year’s senior season as she stated, “Since I’m going to be a senior next year, I want to be able to showcase my leadership skills to my new teammates as I hope to be someone they look up to and aspire to be someday. I also plan to work hard on this off season so I can be on my grind next year.”
Augustine ended the conversation with, “I enjoyed playing with my teammates since I was in seventh grade and will forever remember the memories and good and bad times that we shared.” Barcellos wishes to shout out Coach Barcellos, her dad, for writing a scout report every game for the team and for allowing them access to film when they needed it.
The season ended with a loss to Kimball High School on February 14, with a score of 62-50.
