Soccer is now a Winter Sport
January 23, 2017
It’s winter and soccer is being played at schools?
Yes it’s soccer season!! Soccer is now a winter sport at all schools.
Not many girls are happy about it, but many others don’t mind it. In this case, Junior Brea Roland says, “I loved it being a spring sport. Now during every game my whole body, fingers, toes are numb. I’m goalie and its hard to move around and do my job.”
The cold kicks in at night and these girls have to be outside. Not only that but during the winter, the weather is crazy with rain. As for Stephanie Galvan (11) and Laura Albornoz (10), soccer being a winter sport is okay; they like it all.
The soccer also gets to play at the stadium and not at the school running field. Albornoz says, “It’s fun playing at the stadium. We are under the big lights and get more people coming to watch.” Galvan and Roland mentioned how it gives them a better experience and more attention.
Just as other sports, these athletes have goals as a team and for themselves. They say their goal as a team is to work like a team, communicate on the field, and win more games. Galvan’s goal for herself is to make a goal. Albornoz says, “I want to become faster and make more goals than last year.” Roland’s goal is to be better than last year.
Let’s go out and show support for our girl soccer team out at the stadium! Good luck ladies!

I played soccer in the rain before. i can say it’s honestly fun to play and slide on the mud.

That must’ve been terrible to have to play in the mud and the cold nights.
