The Los Banos Tigers track team has kicked off the year with one win against Johansen and one loss against Mountain House as they get ready for this upcoming season.
The track season began February 5, 2024 as the team prepared for the upcoming season by conditioning and working on individual events as well. The team has already participated in two invitational meets, along with one league meet. Many of the participants on the team are very excited this year. Ava Felix (11) stated, “I am looking forward to improving my running skills and getting better overall.”
Felix has run track for two seasons already, this year will be her third consecutive season. Felix is in the 100 meter run, four by 100 meter run, 100 meter hurdles, and long jump. Her biggest goal for this season is, “to attend and participate in Master’s.” Felix has worked hard the past two seasons as she continues to strive towards her goal.
Adam Aguilar (12) has been running track for three out of four seasons as this year will be his fourth. Aguilar has excelled in the 110 meter hurdles, as well as being a part of the four by 100 meter team. He has been exceptionally well as he and his four by 100 meter team, and four by 400 meter team have made it to sectionals this past season. Unfortunately, the four by 100 meter team came up short for gold as they placed third in their event to ultimately end their previous season. Along with the four by 400 meter team who exceeded to Master’s, but unfortunately, placed sixth.
Aguilar stated, “I am determined for this upcoming year, and am looking forward to competing at sectionals in any of my events.”
The track team had their Senior Night on March 20, with an invitational meet coming up on March 22 in Oakdale. Be sure to come out and support as the team’s season takes off.
