The Los Banos Tigers varsity boys volleyball faced off against Mountain House on March 12 for their first and only preseason game.
Mountain House started off hot winning the first set with ease winning 25-11. The Tigers struggled to pass on the first set which caused them to have to play a lot of balls out of system which they’re not used to and have to send over a lot of free balls which are easy to play off which helped Mountain House set up a lot of attacks and put pressure on the Tigers.
The second set started off neck and neck, and the Tigers kept up with Mountain House. Then Mountain House broke away building a 6 point lead which forced the Tigers to take a timeout and recuperate their thoughts. This helped out the Tigers a lot and they closed the gap to only two points. But this wasn’t enough for the boys and Mountain House took the win in the second set 25-18.
The third started and the entire set was neck and neck. The Tigers got hot and built momentum and Mountain House couldn’t find their rhythm which led to Brandon Diaz (12) and Elijah Garcia (11) connecting the attacks they’ve been working on all week. As well as all of the other players on the court like Emanuel Morales (12) who started to pass well which led them to win the set and gain momentum.
The final set however didn’t start so smoothly and Mountain House built a strong lead but that didn’t bother the Tigers. They came back to make the final moments of the game close, but sadly, the Tigers fell short and lost the final set which gave Mountain House the 3-1 lead.
