Seniors have received their cap and gowns, and it is officially the time they have the opportunity to decorate their caps for graduation and also pick out their extra stoles to wear during the ceremony.
Decorating caps is a great way for seniors to customize their look for graduation; it gives them the opportunity to leave their mark at graduation and put their own look and stamp on graduation day.
There are some rules and regulations as to what seniors can and cannot put on your cap. All caps and extra stoles need to be either shown to or an image sent to Mrs. McGraw or Mrs. Leyva for approval by May 6. Seniors can send an image of the cap and stoles to Mrs. McGraw’s email – [email protected] or Mrs. Leyva’s email – [email protected] .
After sending a photo image to either of their emails, administrators will follow up with an email stating “approved” or students will be called in if there are any issues.
It is the student’s responsibility to stick with their submitted decoration and stoles. If seniors do decide to switch it up, they must resend an image before the due date.
All submitted images of your decorated caps and stoles will be printed out and kept in a binder held in the office to be used as reference on graduation day.
On April 22-30 seniors can bring their decorated cap and stoles in person to be approved during Pride Time in the MPB.
All lays including money lays, floral lays, candy lays, etc, are not allowed to be worn during the ceremony, but after the ceremony, when seniors meet with their families, they can be worn then.
If seniors arrive at the Tiger Gym with any lays, they will be collected before the ceremony and given back after the ceremony.
Stoles are also a great way for seniors to show off their culture or heritage or to show their involvement in clubs or groups in the community during the ceremony.
Leyva stated no profanity, cuss words, violence, drugs/alcohol, etc should be put on any cap as decoration. All decorated caps need to be school appropriate.
Many students like to put 3D items on their caps like butterflies, flowers, etc. Students also like to incorporate their college of choice that they will be attending after graduation as decoration or they like to use pictures of their friends and family to show their journey through high school as they are closing a chapter in their life and moving into adulthood.
Whatever seniors decide, get the caps and stoles approved so that everyone can enjoy graduation day without any hassles. If students are unsure about a design or an idea, be sure to ask.
