After a long season, the final whistle will be blown and the last spike will be hit for the Los Banos volleyball boys team. They had senior night on April 10 and will have their last game at Pacheco on April 18.
Throughout the season bonds were forged that extended beyond the court. Through the ups and downs the team supported each other through all the victories and defeats. They’ve improved in every aspect of the game whether it be passing the ball or staying calm and collected in moments in close games.
As the season progressed each match became a place where each player could showcase their growth. Sebastian Ramirez (12) started playing sophomore year and has only progressed since then playing in the offseason during the summer for a club team and it has shown this season with his hitting ability. Another player, Brandon Diaz (12) has a passion for the sport leading him to work and take a lot of pride on his vertical jump which helped him become a great asset to the team.
As the season is finally closing the boys hope to close out the season on a good note after losing against Ceres who they beat before at their home court but couldn’t take it home for senior night. Now the Tigers have a morale boost since they play at their own court, as well as winning the final game of the season at Pacheco’s house. Last time the Tigers faced Pacheco the Tigers were up 2-0 and unfortunately, Pacheco got a reverse sweep and the Tigers have been practicing hard to make sure that doesn’t happen again. The team hopes to close the season out on a good note.
Once the final whistle blows for this season, it will be closing a chapter for some, but for many, it will ignite a new love for the sport and work hard in the off season to reach new heights for next season.
