Senior, Adam Aguilar knows hard work and dedication as he competes in four different track events, the 110m hurdles, 300m hurdles, 4 x 1oo, and 4 x 400 and places well in them. Aguilar has been on the team since his sophomore year and started doing hurdles towards the middle of the season his sophomore year. His main goal for this season is to drop down to 16 seconds in the 110 hurdles. His main goal for his entire track career is to earn as many medals as he can before graduating from high school. So far his track career has earned him six medals and he is working towards earning more.
The track team has a track meet on April 27. They have their WAC championships and Aguilar is working hard everyday on the track to prepare. Aguilar stated, “One of my goals for the end of this season is to try and make it to masters. It’s going to be hard, but if I work hard, I can do it.”
This track season has been different for Aguilar considering the changes in coaches; however, he hasn’t let that have an impact on him. Aguilar stated, “There have been a lot of changes this season; however, being able to practice on a real track gives me an advantage now.”
Aguilar likes to prepare himself before meets by taking a nap on the bus on the way there and listening to music. He also eats well before and then stretches and gets in the racing mindset and locks in. Aguilar so far has had a great season and continues to do well and always helps others in track.
Although running isn’t in his future, he plans on going to Merced Junior College for two years and then transferring to San Jose State or Stanislaus State.
