UPDATE: The Wax Museum was a hit with parents, staff, and students. Historical figures in science and history filled the MPB room where students shared their chosen person to those who stopped to hear. Attached are some pictures of the event.
The annual Wax Museum will take place next month on May 23 in the MPB from 9:20 a.m.-12:15 p.m. The first hour will be exclusive for all parents and school board members. The next two hours will be for all LBHS students.
The Wax Museum will feature classes from all AP Sciences and AP U.S. History classes from Los Banos High School. The students will be characterizing and cosplaying as famous scientists and historical figures from all around the world.
The people who are in charge of the 2024 Wax Museum are Mrs. Souza, Mr. Salaz, and Mr. Christianson. Mrs. Souza, who teaches AP Biology, described the event as, “I am pleased to announce that our AP science classes will be participating in the upcoming Wax Museum event. This year, we will be using this opportunity to delve into the rich history of scientists and their contributions to various fields. The Wax Museum will serve as an interactive platform for our students to immerse themselves in the lives and achievements of renowned scientists throughout history. By embodying these historical figures, our students will gain a deeper understanding of their scientific breakthroughs and the impact they have had on the world. This collaborative effort between the science department and the museum will provide our students with a unique and engaging learning experience. It will not only enhance their knowledge of scientific history but also foster creativity, critical thinking, and public speaking skills.”
The Wax Museum is an event held for the school, but also counts as a grade for the students who are involved in AP Science and AP U.S. History classes. Adan Salas, who had taken AP U.S. History last year described his experience, “My experience with the wax museum was an overall good experience. I didn’t think it was going to be fun at first, but as the day went on and more people became curious it became fun.”
The museum is a once in a year opportunity to see and enjoy, so don’t miss out on Los Banos High School Wax Museum next month on May 23 and learn about important individuals in our world of science and history.
