Brockton Borelli (11) is an outstanding student athlete and academic student. He excels at both academics and athletics as he is a 5-time All American, ranked 7th in the entire country and just this past season placed 2nd in CIF State. In the classroom he is ranked fourth and has a GPA of 4.6.
Due to Borelli’s amazing achievements on the wrestling mat as well as his success in the classroom, he had the opportunity to visit different prestigious colleges around the world. During his recruitment process the colleges he had offers from were: University of Wisconsin, Cal Poly SLO, Oregon State University, University of North Carolina, West Point, The Air Force Academy, University of Oklahoma, University of Pennsylvania and lastly the school where Brockton Borelli will be attending University of Maryland. He had worked so hard to get where he is now and believed that he could reach his full potential at the University of Maryland.
Borelli said he chose the University of Maryland because, “Out of all the teams I talked with I really liked Maryland’s coaches the most along with that the team atmosphere was amazing. They have a D1 wrestling team that competes in the big 10 conference in college. They have great resources at this school from academic counselors, to academic staff to make sure that you are not only performing on the mat but also in the classroom. Their athletic facilities are very nice and they have anything you could ever need. The location of the school is great as well as it is near the DC area where there are lots of opportunities for internships. I cannot stress enough how important it was for me that I really liked the coaching staff and the team atmosphere. This was a huge decision to make and I am confident in my decision. This came down to a lot of praying and having faith in God throughout this entire process.”
Borelli also doesn’t just take pride in his wrestling skills, but his work ethic in the school. Another reason why he chose the University of Maryland is because, “Another thing that I took into account was that the University of Maryland is a very prestigious school with a highly ranked business school which is important to me as I want to major in Business and Accounting.”
Tigers wish him the best in his future.
