On May 15, the Los Banos High school Band had its last concert of the school year. The concert began approximately around 6:30 P.M. and lasted until 8:30 P.M. The concert this year was Disney themed and consisted of lots of Jungle Book themed songs.
The concert began with various awards being handed out to band, colorguard & winterguard, and winter percussion members. After the first round of awards, B Jazz performed two pieces, “In Summer” and “Bare Necessities.” Starring Isaac Ramirez (10) on alto saxophone “In Summer.” and starring Austin Toscano (11) on trumpet in “Bare Necessities.” Right after B Jazz performed awards were given out during the intermission and handed out to students. Awards consisted of the most improved and achievements they’ve accomplished throughout the year.
Following B Jazz, A Jazz performed “Putting on the Ritz” and “Cry Me a River.” “Putting on the Ritz” starred Elizabeth Guardado Ortiz (12) on tenor saxophone, Austin Toscano on trumpet, and Finn Koehler (9) on double bass. “Cry Me a River” starred Ailyn Mena (12) on vocals. Both Jazz bands were greeted with awards due to the members outstanding performance. The crowd had a very positive outlook on both of the Jazz bands performances.
Soloists took the spotlight right after. Bry Vera (10) performed “Heart to Heart” on piano. Elizabeth Guardado Ortiz performed “Is It a Crime?” on alto saxophone. Finally, Guillermo Lopez finished the final round of soloists with “Moonlight Sonata Movement 1” on the piano. All senior soloists agreed that it was a bittersweet moment since it was the last concert of their high school career.
Finally, the concert band played “Mt. Healthy,” “The Mandalorian,” and “A Disney Spectacular.” which starred Austin Toscano on trumpet, Elizabeth Guardado Ortiz on alto saxophone, Adrian Quezada (12) on clarinet, and Bry Vera on drumset. “A Disney Spectacular” concluded the band’s final concert of the year with seniors being recognized with blankets.
