The Los Banos Tigers football team opened up their 2024 season with a highly anticipated game against the Dos Palos Broncos football team on August 23.
The game started with defense blocking up for the first drive, with the score being zero.
In the second quarter the team started to move the ball on offense but couldn’t get the ball to the red zone. The first two quarters were a bit slow for the Tigers. The teams were just going back and forth. The Tigers were still at zero at the end of the second quarter.
In the third quarter a big play that happened was when Kolton Kanemoto (12) scored the only touchdown of the whole game for the Tigers. Another really cool thing that happened was when the team faked a punt and Josh Gargano (11) took the ball 25 yards. The score was LB 7 and DP 15.
In the last quarter the Tigers started to slow down. The Broncos saw the advantage and started scoring. Alan Moran (11) said, “We couldn’t finish the job.”
The final score was LB 7 and DP 30.
According to some of the football players their weaknesses of the game was that they were not prepared, and they went out on the field thinking that the Broncos were not the best. “We didn’t have enough pride, so we lost,” said Jaylen Walton (12).
Players also shared that improvements that can be made for the future games. Some of these improvements include going out with intensity and confidence, taking the game seriously, and staying strong no matter what the score is.
