Rocking On!
February 10, 2017
To those avid readers of our paper, you may remember the article about garage bands that was published a few weeks ago. Well, I attended the concert that that article was meant to publicize, and it was a blast.
The concert brought in a variety of bands and an array of 85 or more people to listen. The music played was mostly of the alternative rock genre, and the bands were either local adults or bands from out of town.
The most outstanding band I saw played a set of Screamo songs. While the music was not particularly my style, the band had such a powerful stage presence that they needed to be interviewed. I was most intrigued as to why Caulfields Catch, the band I interviewed, used such heavy vocals. The lead singer, Moises told me that because he was the youngest child in a large family, he was always told to sit still and be quiet. This eventually had him develop a desire to revolt against this notion of being a good child and that’s what led to the bands screaming tendency and energetic stage presence. This band formed in 2009 and credited their startup to a number of inspiring bands ranging from Metallica to Bring Me the Horizon.
This concert was meant to raise funds for the choir program and this charity is what brought so many bands to our school. A member of another band told me that they wouldn’t have come otherwise. He said that as an aspiring artist, he understands how important music in the school system can be to the development of a child.
Mr. Faria, the director of the concert said he was very pleased with the turn out of both bands and audience. “We made a very nice profit and hope to do it again next year.”

I went, and it was a really cool experience. I got to talk with the bassist for Tamerlane and all of them were extremely friendly.
