Volleyball is not just a game, it’s a thrilling sport that combines speed and hard work for the team. Volleyball is a sport where the team has to work with your teammates to win a game. It takes a lot of team work and dedication.
The varsity girls volleyball team started out slow, but they are determined to improve and overcome these early setbacks. Addison Melden (10) said, “I enjoy the feeling I get when I make a good play or the excitement I get when my teammates get a good play.’’
The feeling of playing a good game is important because players help out their team with good energy. Melden said, “My season has been going pretty well. I hurt my ankle at one point but now that it’s healed the season has been going well.’’
Kanin Welch (11) is a starter on the volleyball team. One thing Welch is enjoying about the season is “just the game.’’ She added, “I just love playing the sport and I am so grateful to have been introduced to both school and club volleyball.’’
Welch’s season started off slow. She said, “Our season started off a little slow and rough, but our team is building chemistry and improving more and more everyday.”
Maliyah Salas (11) is on the varsity girls volleyball team. Salas has played all three years of her high school career. “I love the team and I think we have great communication. The bonding of the team is great and I think we will go far in the season.”
Salas prepares before her game by “listening to music and eating some good food.”
The next volleyball game is October 1. Junior Varsity plays at 5:00 p.m. and Varsity at 6:30 p.m.
