We are pleased to announce that Cecilia Mena Sandoval has joined the ELD department at LBHS.
Mena previously worked as a substitute teacher at Planada Elementary and Merced Union High School. She decided to become an ELD teacher because of her interest in the subject and the chance to teach it. Now, she is a full-time ELD teacher.
Mena comes from a large family of 10 and graduated from Stanislaus State and Fresno State College. She has always wanted to work at a school since she was in high school, and she was very excited about joining the staff.
She found the staff and students to be very respectful and very friendly. She is happy to be a part of our school community, with the only tiring part of her job is all the grading that she has to do.
The reason she’s motivated to teach was because of her past in working at the fields. She grew up in Mexico, eventually came to Merced and obtained her teaching credentials which was the proudest moment of her life and has the professional goal of getting her master’s degree.
Some fun facts about Mena is that she loves to spend her free time reading books and watching movies. She doesn’t really watch sports, but she supports Mexico and their soccer team. Her favorite foods are chile rellenos and mole.
Her plans for the future are to eventually get her master’s degree and to continue to evolve herself constantly to become a better and better teacher everyday.
