Red Ribbon Week is a tradition on school campuses to recognize drug prevention and inform students and parents about addiction. Red Ribbon Week is taking place on campus October 23-31.
This year the Wellness Club is promoting this event. Ms.Landeros, Wellness club advisor and counselor. She said, “Now more than ever, drugs are a real problem in California and it’s important that we are teaching kids to make healthy decisions and support those that struggle with addiction.”
This year LBHS is celebrating Red Ribbon week with many different activities. There will be dress up days. These include, (10/23) Sober in Pink, (10/24) Scare The Drugs Away, (10/25) Swap Lives, Not Drugs, (10/28) Don’t Get Caught Sleeping: Wear your pajamas, (10/29) ABC, No Drugs For Me, (10/30) Get In Loser, We’re Getting Sober: Mean Girls dress up, and (10/31) Boo Drugs: Wear your Halloween costume.
Fun activities will take place all week hosted by administration, counselors, the Restorative Justice Club, and the Wellness Club. These activities will be, student vs. staff challenges for those who have signed up, a community resource night held on campus afterschool by LBHS (10/23), drug preventions, and staff handing out treats. With this event, Landeros stated there is “a balance of fun and informational” activities for everyone.
