English teacher, Ms. Debbie Teixeira is making a lasting impact by helping students discover their purpose. Through building strong relationships and encouraging them to recognize their abilities, she pushes students to envision and achieve their own success.
Ms. Teixeira began teaching in September 2016, inspired by one of her college professors. If she wasn’t a teacher, she would have pursued a career as a writer or a novelist. In her spare time, she has even started writing a book.
Her teaching goal is to build strong relationships with her students and help them recognize their own abilities and successes. She strives to make her lessons engaging and hopes her students will feel excited about what they are learning.
When asked to share some wisdom, she advises her students, “Everything is temporary. If you are going through a hard time, remember that it’s temporary, and things will get better.”
Teixeira is a very understanding teacher who enjoys engaging with her students. She often takes time to ask her students how they are doing or how their day is going. Her teaching style is particularly beneficial because she actively moves around the classroom, checking in to ensure that everyone fully understands the assignment. Priscilla Lopez (12) had her junior and senior year and she expressed that “Ms. Teixeira has always been an uplifting teacher, so my experience with her has always been good.”
During the summer, you can find Teixeira at dance competitions with her daughters or spending time at the lake. Teixeira is deeply inspired by her students and their potential. She genuinely wants the best for each of her classes, guiding her students not only to excel academically, but also to recognize their own strengths and resilience as they move into adulthood.
