On October 26, Ms. Danielle Cavazos organized the Halloween Extravaganza from 7-10 p.m. in the Los Banos High School quad as a fundraiser for the student’s end of the year trip to Universal Studios.
The Extravaganza had a “Trunk or Treat” that had been hosted by ASB, a haunted house, blow up obstacle courses, games, kiddie maze, and a “Grab The Gross” station where people can reach into a box and feel fake eyeballs, brains, and hearts.
This year in 2024, Cavazos organized an “Old Fashioned Horror Movie” theme for the haunted house. The students who participated in the haunted house enjoyed the opportunity and experience to act out their roles, and create an exciting, spooky atmosphere for the people that had entered the haunted house. Cavazos said, “Students really enjoyed going in and acting the parts out and screaming nonstop.”
Students acting in the haunted house had rehearsals on a Saturday to learn their parts and scripts. Finally, that Friday night before the event, students and staff helped set up decorations and continued to do so on the day of the event in the morning till 5:00 p.m. when the Extravaganza opened.
Steve Vergara (12) took part in acting in the haunted house and enjoyed frightening people and being able to have fun doing it with his friend’s. He put on a successful scare despite the long rehearsals and time it took to set up everything. Vergara said, “I enjoyed yelling at people and scarring the old people. It was fun but I was so exhausted by the end of it.”
In addition, Cavazos assistant, Mrs. Bran was in charge of organizing the event back in August to meet with adults that volunteered for the event and meetings which had led to a successful 1500-2300 tickets sold.
