Every year in the month of October an event is held in Hollister by the Pacheco Pass Highway called the Renaissance Fair! The campground Casa De Fruta takes this event very seriously with so many shops, shows, and overall theming taking you back in time.
Tickets every year are $35 and the cost for parking is $350. It takes place between September 14th to October 20th. Everyday at the Fair people dress up and there are daily themes so the interactions are even more exciting.
The Renaissance Fair already has so many activities but what people look forward to the most is the shows. Every show is interactive and inclusive to the audience and even encouraged. A lot of the shows have very crude and humorous jokes that keep the audience strapped to their seats.
One of the most popular shows at the fair is the joust. The joust is a two part show that shows two knights securing rings on javelin to win against each other and towards the end they fight with swords physically. This event makes everyone roar with excitement and is what most look forward to.
Not only are the shows an experience to be remembered but the food is widely popular and often the biggest line causer. The most craved food the Renaissance has to offer is their enormous turkey leg. In general the food options have variety, if something sweet is carved or something spicy a food stand is always bound to have it.
Another activity many people enjoy doing is shopping. There are stores all over the Fair and all offer different things depending on a buyer’s wants. Some shops sell personally made necklaces while others might sell accessories such as swords or amour. Dresses and even peasant clothes are sold!
The Renaissance Fair overall is a non forgettable experience and always has a crowd of people. Everyone is kind, and not afraid to compliment or make conversation. I strongly recommend experiencing this magical place and enjoy the community it comes with.
