It’s that time of the year once again. The leaves are changing and falling, the weather is getting colder, more people are dressing warmer for the season. Thanksgiving is one of the major holidays throughout the year and people have different plans and ways for celebrating it.
Most commonly, people who celebrate Thanksgiving usually gather with their loved ones and they have a good time making memories, cooking a lovely dinner, and having fun socializing with each other. Some celebrators might want to spend Thanksgiving with their friends or other acquaintances. Some people might be busy during Thanksgiving and may unfortunately not be able to celebrate the holiday with their family or friends due to it being work related. Maybe it’ll just be a chill day to oneself. There are many ways different people celebrate Thanksgiving.
There are also different foods that different families and friends will serve at their dinners. Not everyone is the exact same. Everyone has a different culture that has its own food. A traditional fare of the Thanksgiving dinner, for example, typically includes turkey, bread stuffing, potatoes, cranberries, and pumpkin pie. According to FamilyHandyman.com, an article called, “What to Know about Thanksgiving,” 87 percent of Americans celebrate Thanksgiving, as it is the second most popular holiday in the United States after Christmas.
Every culture has different types of foods that they eat at their Thanksgiving dinner. Some foods include, but are not limited to:
*Sweet and Spicy Braised Turkey, Korea
*Pumpkin Empanadas, Mexico
Beans and Rice, Cuba
*Hasselback Potatoes, Sweden
*Doro Wat, Ethiopia
*Tourtiere, Canada
*Lasagna, Italy
*Maple Glazed Rutabaga, Finland
*Tandoori Chicken, India
There are traditional Thanksgiving foods and then there are not so traditional Thanksgiving foods. These foods could be something one would be willing to make to spice up their Thanksgiving with new foods to try.
Some Non-Traditional foods may include:
*Roasted Pumpkin Soup
*Bacon-Wrapped Pork Medallions
*Tangy Honey-Glazed Ham
*Mushroom Cream Gravy Sauce
*Cranberry-Jalapeno Relish
*Mascarpone Mashed Potatoes
*Apple-Stuffed Acorn Squash
Some families and friends may have certain traditions for Thanksgiving, just like on any other holiday. Some may play Thanksgiving football for example to work off the dinner they just had. Maybe some will bake some delicious puffed pastries with their loved ones for everyone to share a sweet dessert after the dinner. Or maybe they may just want to sit back, relax, and converse with each other and have a fun time. There are so many possibilities for what people plan to do this holiday season, both on Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Thanksgiving is about being grateful for what you have and what the world has given you. Being grateful for a house, delicious food, and a loving family. Hopefully in the coming years, nobody forgets what Thanksgiving is really about and that everyone can celebrate the holiday their way, the way they want it.
