Think about your ideal day at school. What does it look like? What do you do? Being in a good positive environment that boosts mental energy is key to having a good school day. This was an interesting topic to dive into students’ opinions on school and how they perceive school on a day to day.
School takes up relatively 19% of a person’s life and it’s crucial that each day is positive and fulfilling. These attributes help create a successful school performance and all in all a positive attitude. Things like classwork and peers contribute to a student’s overall day.
What does the ideal day at school look like to different students though? Taking a look at different students’ opinions is a good way to find out how school can be a positive place for all. Various students were asked the following questions. What does your perfect day of school look like? What happens in class? Do you do work or is it a real school day? Is it a full school day or do you go home early?
Senior, Mathew Vause said his perfect school day consists of quiet classrooms, getting all his work done, and going to every class. Out of the two seniors talked to, they both have had similar responses. It’s important to go to school and get your work done. You’re not here for any other reason and you can have free time at home.
Though staying motivated and on task can be challenging it’s important to try and push yourself. “For me, a successful school day is doing all my work instead of being on my phone,” stated Cain Macias (12).
What about the other grades’ perspective? Alfonso Estrella Roldan (11) was asked the same questions and here’s his thoughts. His first two periods would be easy in class where they do minimal work. “For third, we’d have a potluck. And the same for fourth,” Alfonso stated.
Another fun thing for students is lunch. Students with lunch cards enjoy their lunch and going out is what they can look forward to. Alfonso also said, “It would be a perfect day if I went out to lunch.” Many students agree with this statement.
Most students also prefer a minimum day with a 1:50 release. Shorter classes make a school day more bearable to many. A typical school day is about eight hours long, longer if you participate in school activities such as clubs, sports, or any other extracurricular. School days being shorter may be beneficial to students.
All in all, this was interesting to ask around and learn about different students’ perspectives on school and how it is for them.
