Students are looking forward to this Thanksgiving with vacation starting November 25 – December 1. Their excited knowing that the best holidays are around the corner, which also means families are already or soon going to be flying out to reunite for the holidays and start planning their activities and foods that they are going to be preparing.
A lot of students mentioned how they were mostly looking forward to all the food they are going to eat; however, in a recent interview with Valeria Sanchez (12) she got asked what she was looking forward to this Thanksgiving and she responded, “I am looking forward to being able to reunite with family that come from out of town and mentioning to them how I am very thankful for them to be able to be apart of my life.”
Other students are preparing to leave out of state and out of town to reunite with their families over thanksgiving break. About half of the students I interviewed stated that they were leaving town and enjoying their week break off with family. with Victoria Iniguez (12) she stated, “I am mostly looking forward to traveling to Oregon to see all my cousins and family because I have not seen them in what feels like forever.”
Some students are also planning to get together with friends and have a “friendsgiving” which is where they all bring a main dish along with some desserts and pastries. They usually do this the weekend before Thanksgiving. Marley Zavala (12) talked about planning a friendsgiving with her friends. She stated, “I am looking forward to the friendsgiving me and my friends are having because I am very thankful for them being a part of my life and always being there for me.”
Some people have already started putting up Christmas trees and Christmas decor and parents are even taking advantage of all the Black Friday sales that are happening and are starting to get loved ones their Christmas gifts to avoid all the last minute stress of trying to buy all gifts at once.
Students are very thankful for family and friends and excited to reunite with some family and being able to spend time with them and show gratitude when reuniting with their families after time apart.
