Tragedy struck when the new year of 2025 started with an uncontrollable fire set ablaze in Pacific Palisades area of Los Angeles on January 7.
According to CBS news, the fire destroyed 23,713 acres, claiming over 6,000 buildings and twenty eight lives. Many people were forced to leave their homes in a hurry causing the loss of important items such as heirlooms, documents and sentimental items. Many of the homes were owned by celebrities.
When the fire had begun spreading and causing panic throughout all of Los Angeles, firefighters hastily made way to try and stop the ginormous fire. Another problem quickly arose for Los Angeles as the city’s fire hydrants were too low on water to do any damage to the deadly fire. As well as the lack of appropriate gear to stop the massive fire from the defending of the fire station by Los Angeles mayor, Karen Bass. During the struggle for help, many firefighters from different cities, countries and even Los Angeles own prison inmates helped in putting a stop to the fire.
Some homes were left with minimal damage while others were burnt to ash, leaving many lives in disarray and heartbreak. With the helpless feeling of what had happened in Los Angeles, some celebrities have been donating money to victims of the fire and former President Joe Biden gave $770 to every victim of the fire.
There’s much speculation on how this fire exactly started. LA firefighters stated that it most likely could have been from strong winds while some believe it could have been an act of arson. Many damages were done not only to buildings but to many people’s lives. The fire burned over 24 hours, fueled by winds and had been stopped after two whole days.
Through this recovery when all seemed settled, two new fires started January 23, located in Hughes and Eaton, causing destruction and forcing civilians to once again evacuate their homes.
