As the new year begins, students are setting their goals to improve themselves, while also aiming to achieve success. Whether it’s academic achievements, personal growth, or new healthier habits, New Year’s resolutions are a great way to start off the year.
Many students wanted to start the year by focusing on their academic performance, aiming for higher grades and leaving procrastination behind. Staying up-to-date with school work and attempting to do better every year is a well known idea that circles through the minds of students. By having this goal set in mind, students can start their year with a fresh start and improve more than ever.
Valerie Reyes (11) said, “My goals this year are to stay on top of school work and prioritize studying instead of falling behind on work.”
Aubree De La Cerda (11) said, “My goal is to get above a 4.0 on my grades this year.”
Although school and academic achievements are a majority of students’ goals this year, focusing on personal growth is popular too. From improving mental health to staying physically active, these resolutions create a desire in the students to change how they think and act in their lives. Personal growth and new habits that help a person is as important as every other goal one can make.
Samantha Carter (11) said, “This year my goals are to be kinder and to be a better person.”
No matter what goals you make for yourself this year, whether they’re big or small, they’re still a step toward self improvement. The most popular resolution among teens this year was to create goals that prioritize their mental health and sleep. Each resolution a student might have reflects the determination and hope that a new year inspires for them. With or without the help from others like family and friends, all goals have the potential to become reality.
