Whether it’s a romantic evening with a partner or having something planned with friends, students have their own Valentine plans.
Victoria Iniguez (12) said, “ For Valentine’s day, I plan on having a Galentines with my close friends at my house. We planned it that day so our parents are able to go out and have dinner alone. I think it would be a cute thing to do with friends, hang out, and do fun activities together.”
A Galentines is something friend groups do so they are able to hang out and plan something altogether so all parents can go out and enjoy a dinner together like Iniguez stated. They all bring some type of treats and they usually decorate a background where they are able to take pictures. The focus of having a Galentines is to appreciate platonic relationships and to simply have fun with close friends.
Valeria Sanchez (12) stated, “On Valentine’s Day, I plan to go out to dinner with my mom because my dad works out of town and he stays out there all week and comes back weekends and since Valentines is on a Friday I would feel guilty to leave her alone since my dad is not able to be with her that day. I also plan on attending a Galentines party with my close friends the next day so that way my parents can go out and celebrate.”
Valentines is celebrated as a reminder to show gratitude and affection to those we care about, it could be a partner, a close friend, or a loved one. Most people exchange gifts, many people also enjoy writing heartfelt notes to their loved ones. Valentine’s Day is common for people to send out cards, go out to dinner, or even plan a Galentine’s day which honors friendships and it is mostly celebrated among women.
