It is that time of year for FFA sweetheart balloons delivery on February 11 through February 14. This year’s FFA sweetheart candidates are Rylee Powers (12), Jaci Bretz (11), Janelle Leon (10), and Miranda Narravette (9). The FFA staff and students will honor all of the sweethearts and crown the winner at the Sweetheart Banquet on the February 18 with family and friends in the MPB
Selling balloons is a big task for all the candidates. Bretz said, “I don’t have my license so that is super hard especially with selling. And I have an animal too so it takes time out of my selling to go work with it.” As she faces some challenges she still has a selling strategy by going to restaurants and then houses after. Bretz has been in FFA for three years and was in 4-H beforehand.
Bretz stated, “It would mean everything to me to win. It has been a dream of mine for forever and it would really mean a lot to me and my younger self if I won. Also it means everything to the chapter because it funds everything we are.”
Powers has been in FFA for four year. Her involvement with FFA is showing lambs and helping kids that are new. She plans to go to Fresno State after high school and major in nursing/ sonography. Powers stated, “Sweetheart is something I’ve always wanted to do since I was little.”
She said, “Winning sweetheart would be an honor and a privilege because it’s something I’ve always wanted to accomplish.”
All the money that is made through this fundraiser will go to the FFA program.
