As winter sports have officially ended, spring sports are staring up and the Boys Tennis team is ready for action! They have their first official preseason game on March 3 against Pittman and their first league game that same Thursday on the 6th against Golden Valley.
Lots of tennis will be played in these next few weeks for the boys as they have to play each team in the CCC three times. With this year’s team, they have most of their players returning and ready to compete against these tougher teams.
Last season, the team made it to the playoffs, but came in short against Mira Loma. As the team has improved and worked on many things to this point, there are high hopes that they will make it again this year. The team is still fairly young and has lots of talent waiting to emerge.
Junior number two ranked player Chase Fifield said, “I think my biggest weakness is my forehand and my biggest strength is probably my change of direction. I can change my speed and direction in which the rally is going.”
With only one preseason game left and a Fresno tournament, the 2024-2025 Boy Tennis team has little time to prepare for the season. Still, the players have lots of confidence going into the new league and there is no doubt that they compete. Some star players to look out for this season are rising Freshman Drake Fifield, second year player Senior Yahir Zuniga, and Sophomore Nelson Fabian.
