Art teacher, Mrs. Sagouspe strives to do her best for each of her students. She is not only an art teacher, but she is the advisor for the Art Club, as well as the Class of 25 advisor.
Having so many responsibilities as a teacher can be challenging and difficult with such a busy schedule. It’s a wonder how Mrs. Sagouspe can find the time to fit everything in her day.
When asked about how she manages to make her schedule so flexible she answered, “I like to make to do lists. I’ll make a to do list for school, and I’ll make one for home and then the art club.”
Her lists help her manage her time and figure her day-to-day schedule, although at times it still can be challenging with some things having to be prioritized over others, her lists are a big life saver.
Teachers all have their own reasons for choosing to pursue teaching students. Sagouspe made her own reason clear, stating that she likes to engage with others and make others feel included. Being able to help others or even to make someone’s day a bit better motivates her to work as hard as she does.
With so many reasons for choosing to teach, another reason is her art class. “Art, I think it’s so much fun and you can use art for everything. It’s not a stressful class, it’s one where you get to enjoy and create.”
Sagouspe works her hardest as an art teacher providing ideas for her students and letting their creativity take control of each project.
Having an art class as well as an art club seems like it can be hard to find new ideas and different ways to express art without having any repeats. But for Mrs. Sagouspe, it’s hard to not find new ideas!
Using Instagram as an inspiration as well as magazines and websites, she finds extraordinary ways to create with both classes.
“I’m always open to new ideas, and I like adopting things that aren’t meant for art.” She aims to allow the creative side of her students to shine by giving them opportunities from every different idea she comes up with or finds.
Sagouspe, as an artist herself, enjoys working with oil pastels but also enjoys other mediums like watercolor. She enjoys the calmness of making pieces from crafting, sketching and painting it all provides her with an easy feeling.
Teachers work hard every day for their students, and Mrs. Sagouspe shows others just how far teachers go for their students’ education as well as overall school experience. She brings her own joy that art provides her and helps students bring out their own expression through art.
