The JV girls softball team is in full swing. The girls softball season started March 4 against Merced.
The JV girls softball team has started off their softball strong. Emma Lopez (10) is a player on the softball team. One of her favorite parts of playing softball is “ My favorite part of softball is the relationship you build on the field with your team and the competitiveness.”
Having a good relationship with your teammates is really important. Making new friends and new memories with people you love is really important while playing a sport. Lopez is more excited about “ I’m most excited for playing new teams we haven’t seen before and being challenged.” The team in a new league this year and get to see new teams we haven’t seen before.
Lopez plays second base. She likes playing second base because “second is definitely my favorite to play because you’re very involved and active in the game.”
Playing in the infield is super important because players are really involved in the game. Staying motivated during a difficult game is hard for the team. Lopez stays motivated by “During tough games I stay motivated by reminding myself to shake it off and focus on the next play or inning and to play my best while uplifting my teammates.’’
Malia Fuentes (10) has been playing softball for two years now. Fuentes’ favorite part of playing softball is “ my favorite part of softball is the girls I get to play with.’’
Fuentes has made lots of new friends throughout the season. Fuentes is most excited about playing in a new league this year. “My favorite position to play is second base because it is the position I’ve been playing for the longest time and the most confident in my ability to perform there.”
Playing different positions is really important because it’s good for the coaches to move players around. Fuentes said, “I stay motivated during tough games by taking all mistakes as a learning lesson and encouraging my teammates.” The JV team has won two games and lost two games. Their next game will be March 20 at 4 p.m.
