The art department will be hosing an art show featuring art from the year and introducing a full variety of new art and entertainment on April 15.
Ms. Trinidad Gallegos, the head of the art department stated, “This is going to be the first time that we fully close the MPB for use of art for the entire day.”
Every school year the art shows two times per year, one in the fall and one in the spring. This spring art show is opened up to parents so bring along friends or family for this exciting event. It’s open till 5:45 p.m.
The drama club will be present at the art show. Performing arts will offer live music, choir, piano and acting performances as well. Visual arts will include drawings, paintings and sculptures. The members of the LBHS art department are hosting part of the art show. Mrs. Sarah Sagouspe, visual design, Mr. Josh Danner, digital media, and Ms. Trinidad Gallegos who does sculpture and photography. Students were required to do one piece of art for the art show but in most cases, they did more.
Sagouspe stated, “Every year students do such a great job, so coming through the show every year you’re going to see something new each time.”
Something new about this year is the art club is doing a maker station during pride time and lunchtime. Students will be able to make pipe cleaner flower crowns for free. The art club will also have a whole station where students will be able to come and have fun and just make things.
ASB is also hosting a contest for the best art exhibited in the art show. Students will be given the chance to vote for their favorite. The voting will be through a Google form where all participants vote for one of their favorite visual artworks during the art show and there will be QR codes around the art show to vote. The form will be multiple choice and the students will type in the artist’s name and artwork. The votes will be posted on April 16 and winners will get interviewed or included in the Friday bulletin on April 18. There will be a winner for each category of art going from best sculpture, best ceramics, best digital media, best colored or graphite pencil, best digital photography, and best chalk. All winners will receive a prize. These types of voting events help students get remembered and appreciated for their hard work so please stop by and recognize the art and vote.
Sagouspe has tons of craft giveaways. “The students get to get recognized by their peers because everybody on campus gets to vote,” Sagouspe stated.
So stop by and support this up-and-coming art show.
